FAQs
Q: Is there anything I need to do before coming in person to rent poles from NOVA PVC?
A: Nope! The whole process takes about 5 minutes from start to finish and can be done in person. If you're organized and motivated though, or don't trust the wifi in the GMU Field House (I don't blame you!), then prior to coming in person you can download the PVR app from the App Store and Pre Fill your Payment by clicking the button below on the phone PVR is installed on. This will save you about 4 minutes of downloading the app, entering your credit card information, and signing the rental agreement.

Q: How many poles can I rent at a time?
A: You can rent as many as you would like! Each pole that you add to your subscription will be $80/mo. Remember, you can swap as many times as you like with no additional fee, but it is based on what poles are available.
Q: Can I rent or reserve a pole online?
A: Not at this time. Currently the PVR app only supports in person rentals, so poles are rented and swapped on a first come first serve basis.
Q: When do I need to return my pole(s)?
A: Your rental period begins as soon as you check out and pay for your pole through the PVR app. You can always see which poles you currently have rented on the “My Poles” page in the app. If you want to end your rental, simply return your poles through the PVR app before your next monthly payment is processed. You’re welcome to keep your poles for as long as you’d like! There’s no set time limit as long as your subscription remains active.
Q: What happens if my pole is damaged, broken, lost, or stolen?
A: Please review the Rental Agreement for full details. If a pole is lost, stolen, broken, or damaged beyond safe use, there’s a $500 replacement fee. You’ll never be charged for normal wear and tear, we understand poles naturally get scuffed and dirty with regular use.
Q: What if I don’t return my pole before my next billing date?
A: Rentals operate on a simple subscription model with no late fees or deadlines. If your pole has not been returned through the PVR App before your next billing date, your subscription will automatically renew and you will be charged for the next month. You are welcome to keep your pole for as long as you would like by maintaining your active subscription.
Q: How do I know if Northern Virginia Pole Vault Club has the pole I need?
A: You can check our current pole inventory by clicking the "Current Pole Inventory" button above or by visiting the GMU Field House during practice to look in our big green pole box. If the pole you need is not available or is currently checked out, let Coach Decker know. He is always adding to the inventory and might even order the pole you need. Rumor has it that buying new poles is his favorite hobby.

We are also still searching for the perfect name for our pole box, so if you have a creative idea, let us know. The box deserves a better name!
Q: So where exactly do I pick up and return poles?
A: Poles are stored in our green pole box inside the GMU Field House. You can pick up or return a pole during practice hours. To return, use the PVR app to scan the pole and the return code at the box. The app will confirm your return instantly.
Q: Can I share my rented pole with a teammate?
A: No. Poles cannot be shared because the rental agreement and liability waiver apply only to the person who rented the pole through their PVR account. If another athlete uses your rented pole and it gets damaged, lost, or broken, you would still be fully responsible for the replacement fee. More importantly, if someone else uses your rented pole and gets injured, you could be held liable since they never signed the rental agreement or accepted the risks themselves. To protect everyone, each athlete who wants to use a pole must rent it through their own PVR account and sign their own agreement.
Q: Can I buy a pole instead of renting?
A: At this time, all poles are available for rent only through the PVR app. The rental system gives athletes flexible access to the exact pole they need without the high upfront cost of buying. If you ever decide you want to own a specific pole, talk to Coach Decker about possible purchase options.
Q: Are there any changes to the pole rental program coming in the future?
A: We are always working to make pole vaulting in Northern Virginia safer, more accessible, and more fun. Our goal is to help athletes reach higher PRs while expanding awareness and opportunities for the sport.
As we continue growing, we plan to keep adding new poles to meet demand, especially during busy seasons like the high school indoor and outdoor postseason. Over time, we expect to introduce new features such as flexible rental lengths, expanded pickup and drop-off options, and possibly NOVA PVC bringing poles to meets.
For now, we are proud to release this simple and straightforward monthly pole subscription with unlimited swaps and access to our full collection of 165 poles. This marks the inaugural launch of our rental program, and while it will continue to evolve, we are excited to offer Northern Virginia vaulters an option that makes accessing poles easier than ever.
