Sprinting Fundamentals for Pole Vaulters
Pilot Program Summer 2026
Description: The goal of this program is to help pole vaulters improve their technical and speed/power abilities through drills, plyometrics, and speed training. The focus is on enhancing the 5 biomotor abilities - Speed, Strength, Flexibility, Coordination, & Endurance. This pilot program is limited to 10 athletes from beginner to advanced pole vaulters.
Program Dates: This pilot program is offered across 3 weeks on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 – 7:30 pm on the following dates: July 14, 16, 21, 23, 28 and 30. There are no make-up practices offered.
Program Location: GMU outdoor track. Practice is moved indoors if raining.
Cost: $120 for entire program (all T and Th sessions).

Reynaldo Radlin is in his fourth year coaching the sprints, hurdles, & relays at GMU. He brings four years of collegiate experience with him as well, having competed at The University of North Carolina, where he was a two-time ACC Champion in the 400m hurdles (2011) and the 4x400m relay (2013), a four-time NCAA East Regional qualifier and a NCAA qualifier in the 4x400m relay (2012). Radlin graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sports Science from UNC in 2013, and earned his Master's degree in sport/fitness management from Troy University in 2017.

RJ Lightbourne is an Assistant Coach for Track and Field at GMU, where he works primarily with the sprints, hurdles, and jumps athletes, supporting their development, training, and performance. He previously spent four years competing as a triple jumper for the Patriots. Lightbourne graduated from George Mason University earning a bachelor's degree in kinesiology.
Other: Please bring water and athletes are encouraged to wear spikes.
